Council
The purposes of Environment Bay of Plenty, as a regional council, are:
- To enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of, Bay of Plenty communities;
- To promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of Bay of Plenty communities;
- To consider governance issues regarding informing the regional community and involving them in the work of Environment Bay of Plenty;
- To provide strategic oversight of, and establish policy for, the financial affairs of Council.
Maori Committee
- To consider governance issues relating to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and Council’s legislative obligations to Maori.
Operations Committee
- To deliver and implement all Council policy, excluding regional plans developed under the Resource Management Act 1991;
- To oversee Council’s river and drainage schemes and scheme assets;
- To oversee navigation safety and oil pollution response in the Bay of Plenty
- To guide the development of regional parks.
Regulation Monitoring and Investigations Committee
- To implement Council's regional plans;
- To regulate and monitor the use, development and protection of the Bay of Plenty's natural and physical resources;
- To oversee scientific investigations of natural resource management issues.
Strategic Policy Committee
- To establish Council's strategic direction by developing and reviewing Council's key planning and policy documents;
- To oversee and foster integrated long-term planning within the Council and between the Council and the community;
- To oversee Council's regional development policy, and provide strategic oversight for regional development initiatives.
Total Mobility Management Committee
- To oversee the running of Council’s Total Mobility scheme
- To operate develop and review Council’s Total Mobility scheme
Financial and Governance Committee
- To overview Council’s financial reports and annual financial statements
