In the Bay of Plenty we are blessed with a magnificent array of natural areas to enjoy such as lakes, forests, wetlands, beaches and geothermal areas. Our biodiversity is unique; it is internationally important as many of our species are found nowhere else in the world. So New Zealand's plants and animals are special, but some are also very vulnerable.
