Our Land
Why is land important?
Our land is a non-renewable resource, therefore we need to protect it and use it wisely. It is also home to native wildlife and plants, so our land (their habitat) needs to be protected to ensure their survival, as we have already lost many species. We need to understand the land to use it a sustainable manner.

Bay of Plenty land
The land sweeps from Lottin Point in the east to Waihi Beach in the west. Inland the region is mostly bounded by the watersheds of the river catchments, which flow into the Bay of Plenty and includes the Rotorua Lakes. There is 12,247 square kilometres of land in the Bay of Plenty region, which in general is well matched to land capabilities.
