IDENTIFICATION
A dense scrambler with sharp, spiny scales. Flowers are small, pink and develop into red berries. It has Tuberous roots.

HABITATS
Forest margins and hedges, sand dunes.

IMPACT TO BIOTA AND ECOSYSTEMS
Has the potential to be similar to climbing asparagus which has a capacity to smother forest understory to a height of 2.5 - 5 m; smothers ground cover and can prevent regeneration of canopy species.

DISPERSAL ROUTES, VECTORS, INFESTATION SOURCES
May originate from garden rubbish or be distributed by birds.

MANAGEMENT

Physical Control
Dig out roots.

Disposal
Compost it.

Chemical Control
Spray with Glyphosate + Penetrant.

Rate - Handgun 1 litre Glyposhate + 200 mls Penetrant/100 litres water. Knapsack 100 mls Glyphosate + 20 mls Penetrant/10 litres water.

Biological Control

Recommended Approach
Spray with Glyphosate.
